June Recap: A Month of Growing in Moments
Updated: Jul 11, 2022
Wow, what a month June was! All of the cow's except four have calved and the calves are doing great! I do feel for the three ladies we know are going to calve, as its been so toasty here and they look miserable!
The calves have got very friendly over the past few weeks, too!
June was a pretty jam-packed month for us. The first two weeks were pretty steady with homework and getting used to two summer classes for myself, Jesse had projects at home he's been working on, and summer reading started for Riley. Mid-month, I had my gallbladder removed and was home for about a week healing up from that. I'm extremely grateful that the surgery went smooth, and that Jesse is such a great husband and kept me from overdoing things while recovering the first week.
Harvest hit the week of my surgery, and sadly I didn't get many harvest photos this year. Riley did get to spend a good part of one evening riding in the combine with her uncle, and then we both spent a couple evenings riding shotgun with Jesse in the grain cart. It was nice to be able to get out of the house after being cooped up for several days straight. I'm not a huge fan of being stuck in the house and feeling like I can't help, so those first 4 days were a struggle!
Riley Bug enjoying her time on the grain cart!
Riley is taking swim lessons again this year, and she's loving them! It's hard to believe it's been a year since her last lessons, and she's already doing so well this year! She's working on swimming underwater and grabbing rings from the bottom of the shallow end! It's great seeing her passion for the water and for learning come together, and it helps that her swim instructor is fantastic!
I hope your summer is going great! While ours has started off busy, it's been a great summer, so far!!!
